THE LATEST IN LEE & WOLFE NEWS:

((T-shirt and CD giveaway plus the band Iodine this week! See below...))

If you’re new to the Fun-O-Rama, welcome! Remember, you can catch up with Lee & Wolfe news by reading back issues on the website [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/fanzine.htm ].

"We'd Like to Thank the Little People"

Because it's the little people who make Lee feel tall. Actually, what we mean by that is "thanks for the compliments." Since the last E-Mail Fun-O-Rama, the Lee & Wolfe website has been given some recognition for its general coolness. Some folks who give awards via the web have recognized our site. We've received the following: WLYN Boston Link of the Week, Stacie's Designs' True Style Award, and www.ArtReality.com's Cool Reality Award. So who are they? We wondered that too. We submitted our site to many other sites that give out awards, all at once. We received several award notifications, but almost all of them would not respond to our queries of legitimacy (i.e. did a real human being look at our site, or is this an automated process to give out awards to anyone in exchange for a link). The previously mentioned awards were the ones who responded to say "yes, we looked at your site and really liked it." The details (and links to the awarding sites) are at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/awards.htm ].

"They're Baaaaaaack"

Actually, *we're* back. Last issue we mentioned how the company that does our web hosting (sells us--well, actually sells to Roy of Nummy Muffin Cocoa Butter [ http://v91.simplenet.com/nummy ]--the space for our website) decided to go back on its promise of unlimited space and traffic for a set price. Refresh your memory at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/meghogs.htm ]. They're still being rat bastards, but the website is back up again! Sure we had to delete tons of older shows' Real Audio files, but most everything is there. We're currently setting up a Lee & Wolfe Archive site, where you'll be able to download older (pre-1998) shows. Be sure to remember http://law.fm.net in case they redefine "unlimited" once again.

"Other News"

Don't set your hand on fire. This is the lesson Lee learned since the last newsletter. Don't use a dish cloth as an oven mit, don't hold it over a burner set on high if you do, and don't keep holding on to it like a retarded orangutan after it ignites wondering where all that heat is coming from. Just take it from your ol' pal Lee, flame and skin don't mix. But peeling off the dead blister skin during the show was pretty cool.

Also, don't forget that the Lee & Wolfe Live CD Volume 2, "This Time It’s Personal," is now available from us or from requests to the station. It has great live performances from the past semester of Lee & Wolfe, and it, along with the first volume can be obtained from us virtually at cost (blank CD plus postage to you). We just wanna spread good music.

Wolfe went to the dentist this week, and was apparently punched in the face by someone there while under nitrous oxide. Wolfe wanted to say a few words: Mah mouf huht. Dah mufuguh huht mah mouf. Whuh uh suhbith. Nah ah gahah hab a oot canah. In all seriousness, he came home with a scabby lip and a puffy cheek.

ON THE SHOW:

"Band-wise"

This Friday, June 19th, an incredible band from Nashville, Tennessee by the name of Iodine will be here to play on the show around 7pm. They rock hard and well, and have generated quite a bit of attention lately--some radio stations are actually playing their music, and they’re opening for Soul Asylum this weekend. They took a bit of coaxing to get them to agree to play live on the air, so be sure to tune in / log on this Friday and listen. Call if you like. E-mail if you like, since we may be able to check e-mail live this week (if Largest Fan Patrick brings his computer). There’s even word of Iodine merchandise giveaways.

"Other-wise"

We're giving away a Pepsi "Pop Culture" t-shirt and CD this week, and winning will only require a phone call to (205)348-6082 at the proper time with the proper info. Just listen. Yeah, I know, it's cheesy and it's no set of keys to a new car, but the CD ain't half bad, and hey, it's free. Remember, you don't have to be local to win. Just take into account the 9 second delay on the live net feed when trying to be caller number whatever. :-)

ON THE WEBSITE:

"Update your website damnit"

That was the quote from a website visitor identifying himself only as Jimi386. We understand the frustration. Lots of time was spent scurrying around trying to figure out what to do when the website went down, so there hasn't been much updating, especially in the audio department. I have no major plans this weekend, so the story should be different next week. In the meantime, enjoy what must be the most ridiculously cute pictures ever put on the Lee & Wolfe website: Lucy the Lee & Wolfe Mascot. Everyone's favorite weiner dog is featured sniffin' butt and chewin' bone at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/picpages/picpages.htm ]. Choose the Lucy link.

"Primetime... LIIIIIIVE"

My best ASCII impression of Sam Donaldson right there. I say LIIIIIIVE, to remind you that the show is live on the net each week, and as of last week, the sound quality has been improved and made much more reliable thanks to a generous donation of equipment by Kincaid TV / Stereo in Tuscaloosa. I've always liked the store cuz they don't sell the cheap crap (they're letting us use an NAD receiver). Now I like 'em even more. And no, there's no connection to Wolfe Kincaid. Complete co-winkydink.

THE STRANGEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE:

I know... you're probably sick and tired of all the websites featuring spiritualist speakers who channel the ghost of Lenin talking about the aliens on Earth. But when I got e-mail from a man named Gerald Polley in Maine who does just that (and apparently likes to do radio interviews) I HAD to share it with you. Check out what he channeled for the late Communist revolutionary at [ http://members.tripod.com/~Spiritist/subdirectorybooks2/Lenincontents.html ].

Remember Valley Girls? Of course you do. Such a shame the World Wide Web wasn’t around in the 80’s for valley girls to like, barf out over it. But wait... what if I told you that you could convert any web page into valley girl speech. Like, totally cool! Go to [ http://www.80s.com/Entertainment/ValleyURL ] and enter a web address for the valley girl page to translate. We recommend our top 5 list page ( v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/comedy/top5.htm ) or maybe www.cnn.com. Fascinating stuff.

What’s stranger than that? A page full of burrito and burrito-related information. Oh yeah, very strange. [ http://www.infobahn.com/pages/rito.html ]

*Corrections: Last issue, we mentioned the Cable Tie Page, for fans of the plastic version of twist ties. We listed the web address as [ ]. The address was obviously not [ ]. If you’re still trying to get it to work, stop. Really. [ ] is NOT the web address for the Cable Tie Page. We regret the error.

Thanks again to all of you for reading, listening, and writing...
