THE LATEST IN LEE & WOLFE NEWS:
((This issue: wedding bells, chatting, demos, and reruns - see below.))
If you're new to the Fun-O-Rama, welcome! Remember, you can catch up with Lee & Wolfe news by reading back issues on the website [
http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/fanzine.htm ]."It Was the Way He Held His Mic"
So the big story this week is this: Wolfe and Intern Rachael are tying the proverbial knot! Marriage! Yes indeed, they are forever becoming each others' balls and chains. In what appeared to be a spontaneous confession of love on the last show, Intern Rachael made her long-held feelings for Wolfe pubic... whoops, I mean public. Wolfe and Intern Rachael are jumping headlong into commitment this Saturday, July 25, 1998, in Gadsden, Alabama. I know what you're thinking: "Wow, how'd they get Gadsden on such short notice???" Let's just say, when you're big media stars, you have connections. Notes of congratulations, encouragement, advice, and / or concern can be sent by replying to this message (send to radiogods@birmingham-us.crosswinds.net), by e-mailing from our website, or by leaving a note on our discussion board (click on the DISCUSS picture on the main page). If you'd like a snail-mail address for cards, letter, or extremely expensive gifts, ask via e-mail. Oh, and Wolfe has asked me to tell all the women that he's truly sorry about this and will try to make it up to you somehow.
"Other News"
Web connectivity...
One of those fancy marketing terms there, but I use it to draw your attention to a neat idea. Various places around the net have programs to allow you find other people who are online at the same time, that you know, and instantly begin a chat with them. "Instant Messaging" it's often called. The simplest, and most ubiquitous of these programs is AOL Instant Messenger, or AIM. I know, I know-AOL is completely gay. But some things they do well, and this is one of them. Here's my vision: you get online, load AIM, and instantly know which other Lee & Wolfe listener or staff (us) are online because they all load AIM when they get online too. Sure, it's no dream of true equality among, and empowerment of, all hard-working people of this world... but, hey, it's cool! Maybe we could catch each other online and say "hi." Netscape 4 or higher already comes with AIM (it's the little running yellow guy in the taskbar with no feet or hands). If you don't have it, go to
http://www.aol.com/aim , download it, and install it. Then start adding folks to your "buddy list." It's damn simple to install and setup, which is one reason I'm recommending it. Zillions of people already having it helps too. By the way, my online name is "lee the dj" and Wolfe's is "DJWolfe," so you can add us right away. Please tell us your name when you get it. Fun, fun, fun. Give us a holler if you have any problems.
ON THE SHOW:
"Rerun-wise"
Due to nuptial festivities (rehearsal) this Friday, the show will be a rerun, but a good one! Our 3rd Anniversary show featuring tons and tons of comedy, as well as live music from the show will air this week, and we'll be back live on July 31, with an all-female heavy metal band. Oh, yeah.
ON THE WEBSITE:
"Watch This Amazing Demonstration"
Actually, you listen to it. Wolfe's impending marital responsibilities have only strengthened our resolve to get a little jobby-job. To that end, we have created a page on our website where you (and we hope prospective employers) can hear an online version of our demo CD in Real Audio. Did you know we HAD a demo CD? We'd really like your opinion on the page and especially its contents before we actually link to it from the website main page. Check it out at [
http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/jobbyjob/democd.htm ]. It also links to a resume page, where not all the links work yet. It's really a hoot to hear our voices on other stations, as included in the demo, especially Wolfe on a country station. I'm sure Wolfe would also like to tell you he's truly sorry about being on a country station and will try to make it up to you somehow.
THE STRANGEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE:
If you just can't find that perfect certain someone, you could always marry yourself. [
http://www.ling.lancs.ac.uk/monkey/ihe/paul/handbag/colin.htm ]Marrying yourself is strange, but this one's just plain creepy. Go to [
http://www.phx.com/alt1/archive/news/WEDDINGS_4.html ], and learn what good little women do when they're married. Just grit your teeth and read it. The links at the bottom for part 1, part 2, etc., are also good reading for those considering the big "M."Here's an old Austrian tradition we're considering for after Wolfe and Intern Rachael's ceremony: [
http://www.weddingbells.com/unitedstates/strange/strange9.html ]. The same site has some interesting statistics: [ http://www.weddingbells.com/unitedstates/strange/strange2.html ].Be amused and horrified at how children answer questions regarding marriage at [
http://www.wap.org/ifaq/sex/marriage.html ].
--> Don't forget the show is live on the net every week (even if it's a rerun) at [
http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/audio/liveshow.htm ]. Drop us an e-note if you're listening! We won't answer you 'til we all get back into town after the wedding, but drop an e-note anyway.
Thanks again to all of you for reading, listening, and writing...
