THE LATEST IN LEE & WOLFE NEWS:

((This issue: Yes we're still alive, WGN's the best, web award, wedding pix, and nudity - see below.))

If you're new to the Fun-O-Rama, welcome! Remember, you can catch up with Lee & Wolfe news by reading back issues on the website [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/fanzine.htm ].

"Feelin' Crabby"

So I'm listening via the web last night to Steve and Johnnie's overnight talk show on WGN 720 AM, in Chicago. You may remember the Lee & Wolfe relationship with them is quite nice, as they use some of Wolfe's mix-mastery as their Website Wednesday Night Theme. Very cool. Refresh your memory on this story by reading [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/picpages/pxinnews/wgn.htm ] on our website. So like I said, I was listening to S & J, when, for some reason, they mentioned sex in jello. At this point, I can't remember why they were talking about sex in jello, but there it was. Patrick, our Largest Fan, and their Internet Myth Debunker, was on with them for Website Wednesday Night, as was Don Crabb, host of WGN's Saturday night show "wgnradio.com". Johnnie mentioned in passing there was probably an internet site dedicated to sex in jello. As you might expect, I knew of a newsgroup. Naturally. I called to tell them of this. I also reminded Don Crabb of his interest in talking to us on his show. So, to make another long story just plain long, we set it up. Wolfe and I will appear on WGN 720 AM Chicago via telephone on "wgnradio.com" with Don Crabb, Saturday night around midnight. If you can't hear WGN over the air, listen via Real Audio at [ http://www.wgnradio.com ]. Just click on the "listen" button on the left, then the "click here" link. To learn more about the enigma that is Don Crabb, you can visit his mighty fine website at [ http://www.doncrabb.com ], and learn of his 15 million jobs including columnist, radio host, and university professor. We've previously made Don a theme song since he was jealous of Steve and Johnnie's. Hear it in Real Audio and / or mp3 by going to [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/picpages/pxinnews/donwgn.htm ].

"Oh Lord, It's Hard to Be Humble"

It is surely difficult to keep your head from swelling when a website you're proud of gets complimented by a group you've never heard of at all. Yes indeed. We'd like to say thank you to the British based "Radio Contacts" website for presenting us and our website with the Radio Contacts Hot Site Award. You can visit their site in the UK at [ http://come.to/radiocontacts ], and view our minor league awards page at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/awards.htm ]. Remember we don't accept awards from site that give them out automatically to get more hits to their site. Jay, the editor of Radio Contacts is one of the few real humans who actually responded to our inquiry of legitimacy. So thanky danky!

"Another Homecoming Extravaganza?"

If you remember last year, Alabama's homecoming fell on Halloween, and we celebrated in style with the UA Million Dollar Band Drumline live on the front steps of Reese Phifer Hall, as well as alternative rock band Stone Weasel. The front steps of Reese Phifer face directly toward the quad, where the massive pep rally is held during the last hour of our show, and are directly across from where the rich folks' catered, tent-covered dinner is held. Maybe that's why the police showed up to shut us down when Stone Weasel began to play, as our star quarterback was trying to give his speech. Many rabid football fans and your typical stuck-ups were none too happy about this, and the cops made us wait 'til the pep rally was over to continue. So we're thinkin' "Let's do that again!!!" Actually, we'll wait 'til the end of the pep rally this year, but we are toying with the idea of the same type event, only with more than one band on an extended show, on the evening of October 9, 1998. Stone Weasel seems open to a repeat, and we'd like your opinion. For those of you in a band, would you like to play for free, near thousands of people on the quad for a pep rally, or can you recommend someone who would? Any ideas? To the listeners: who might you like to hear (within reason)? Any suggestions on concert equipment (sound and lighting)? All ideas for such a show would be greatly appreciated, and the bands who appear would naturally be video and audio taped, and would receive a copy. Let us know so we can get this together!

"Communication Is the Key"

A quick review of how to contact us:

For e-mail use radiogods@rocketmail.com for show stuff. We're still trying to change all the references to other addresses on the web page, and let everyone know. Hotmail is too damn slow since Microsoft took it over. To e-mail Lee personally, use leeoverstreet@yahoo.com , and to e-mail Wolfe personally use djwolfe@birmingham-us.crosswinds.net. These are the only ones we check regularly, and are not too slow or going away.

To "Instant Message" us and notice when we're online, we recommend you use AOL Instant Messenger available at [ http://www.aol.com/aim ]. It's no-frills and easy to understand. Online I am "lee the dj" and Wolfe is "djwolfe." K? K.

ON THE SHOW:

"Band-wise"

Today, Friday, September 25th, we are proud to have on the show an artist whose name we don't know how to spell: Victor Mesezni (pronounced MUH-SEZ-KNEE). Victor and gang will be bringing in such goodies as an upright bass, guitar and drums. The last time he was in town, we tried to book him but couldn't. The day after his performance at the Chukker, folks told us "you should have had him on the show." Dern. But we got him now, and you can hear him rock da house around 7pm. Remember you can call , e-mail, or "instant message" us and the band, since we will again try to be online a bunch during the show.

"Other-wise"

Word has it that everyone's favorite redneck, Lee Wolfworthy, may appear for the first time in a while, with topical, in-depth information concerning redneckedness. We can't verify this. But we can hope. Read some of his previous insights at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/comedy/wlfwrthy.htm ].

ON THE WEBSITE:

"What's this??? New Stuff???"

We've actually uploaded new recent shows to enjoy in real audio! Don't forget you can get the FREE Real Player at [ http://www.real.com ]. You may notice on the website that shows from summer have been skipped. Here's why: 1) We felt it absurd to stay way behind since everything from marriage to job hunting slowed us down over the summer, and 2) the station sounded like poo cakes all summer long as we over-modulated, and that has now been fixed. Some comedy will be uploaded from this time period, and if you have a special show request, let us know and we may be able to upload that one. Don't forget the show is also LIVE on the net every Friday 5 - 8 pm CDT, 2200 - 0100 GMT, at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/audio/theshow.htm ].

"He Didn't Break the Camera"

Some of our Fun-o-Rama readers have asked about pictures of Wolfe and Intern Rachael's wedding in July. Youuuuuu got it! We will eventually make a page to properly display them and their witty captions, but if you'd like a preview you can visit the index page (plain list) for the wedding pictures at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/picpages/pxweddin ] to see all the loveliness, including rare images of Lee and Wolfe in actual tuxedos, just click on any of the listed .jpg images. This may also help to clarify things for those who thought we were joking about the whole wedding thing. It's real. We ain't no Andy Kaufman.

THE STRANGEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE:

By a long, LONG shot, the strangest thing I have ever seen, and which I'm sure will cause myself and Wolfe future post-traumatic stress disorder is the e-mail from a listener by the name of Eric Branden. Oh dear lord. We've put his e-mail on the web to scare you too. WARNING: there are two pictures there that contain full nudity in the degree of Penthouse. The pictures are DAMN WEIRD, DAMN FUNNY, and involve us... sorta. If you decide to look at these, remember, you've been warned. [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/comedy/e_funnys/pxwefem.htm ]

Someone in the Duncan Guy Band e-mailed me to inform me of their latest album, which is entirely about menstruation. I kid you not. They thought it might be appropriate for our show. I kid you not. See for yourself at [ http://www.menstral.com ].

Wolfe has found a website dedicated to the promotion of graffiti, complete with slick interactive graffiti games. A site dedicated to graffiti, what's so strange about that? It's in SINGAPORE! Now that's a brave web programmer! Check it out and spray some walls without getting caned at [ http://www.smedia.com.sg/BOG ].

Thanks again to all of you for reading, listening, writing, and generally taking an interest in our pathetic lives...
