*TOMORROW IS LEE & WOLFE SHOW #200!*

THE LATEST IN LEE & WOLFE NEWS:

((This issue: Woodstock, jobs, syndication ideas, and monkeys... see below.))

If you're new to the Fun-O-Rama, welcome! Remember, you can sorta kinda catch up with Lee & Wolfe news by reading back issues on the website at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/fanzine.htm ].

"Bands Grow Up So Fast These Days"

Our congratulations to a Lee & Wolfe multiple-appearance alumnus, King Konga! This fine band from Mississippi, who has been on our show four times, has been invited to play Woodstock '99 this weekend in Rome, New York, July 23-25! King Konga will perform on the AMP3.com "Emerging Artists" stage for a crowd of over 500,000 people! Some of the headliners include Sugar Ray, Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews Band, Jewel, Limp Bizkit, and many others. The event will be on pay-per-view, but the band does not yet know if you can see them. They will perform on Saturday at 11am EDT. The band claims you can see the whole event live via their website in Real Video at [ http://www.kingkonga.com ]. Be sure you have the latest Real Player software, which is free at [ http://www.real.com/products/player/downloadrealplayer.html ]. Wish 'em luck, and when they're wildly famous, remember we have the best bootleg tapes you'll find.

"He Gots a Job!"

Dat boy done gots him a job! Many regular listeners may know that for quite some time now, Wolfe has worked with retards, and hated it. I know, you're thinking "but Lee, *I* work with retards every day too." No, no. I mean he REALLY worked with REAL mentally handicapped folks, some of which are pleasantly simple, and others of which do very big nasty things daily. Actually, I guess that does describe most corporate offices. But anywayz... Wolfe will now be working for a local internet service provider here in Technology Central - Tuscaloosa. To say he's happy about it would be like saying he can eat. And if the day job sucks less, my conjecture is that the show will suck less. Well, ok, maybe not, but hey... round of applause for Wolfe.

And now a word from Wolfe: "Hoo-wah!"

"Time to Exchange Papers and Grade Them"

Last newsletter (some eons ago) we asked twenty Lee & Wolfe trivia questions, as a 4th Anniversary review, and offered a CD to whomever could answer the most. In a surprise upset, the winner was my Dad. Seems he HAS actually listened. The answers, for those curious, are posted at [ the address changed... e-mail us if curious ]

ON THE SHOW:

"Band-wise"

Get out your peanut butter and/or banana pudding, cuz this Friday, July 23, 1999, we will once again enjoy a performance / interview with Nillah! It's been a couple of years since they were on to rock our lame asses, and they have a new CD out. Find out more about them on their website at [ http://www.nillah.net ], and listen live tomorrow in the 7 o'clock hour (CDT) at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/audio/liveshow.htm ]

"Other-wise"

Plans are in the works to syndicate the Lee & Wolfe show to college stations everywhere. No kidding. One station in Kentucky has confirmed, even before hearing the "pilot" sample, probably due to the high mountain air. The show, distributed via mp3 and CD, will be similar to our local show, with us (duh), music, comedy, news, and live band performances, but with a big twist: the show will heavily feature the creative contributions from DJs at the affiliates, making the show what you might call a "celebration of college radio." Well, you might call it that if we were on daytime TV. The show will likely kick ass, while providing a national, or even international, outlet for college DJs who are going above and beyond the call of duty to make college radio not suck like the rest of it. THEREFORE: if you are a college DJ who is doing anything at all of interest on the radio (comedy, news, interviews, dramas, program director came in wasted on your shift and barfed on the new mics while you were live, etc.) send a tape to us! The plan is to generate a pilot to demo to stations via mp3 on the net and via CD/snail mail. Although preference will be given to college radio personnel, audio artists of all types without a station are welcome to send things too, as have the crew of Crunchy Frog Comedy in San Francisco [ http://www.crunchyfrogcomedy.com ] and "The Arnette Tapes" in Tennessee [ http://members.tripod.com/~thearnetttapes/grid1.htm ].

Our big marketing blitz to stations will happen later this month. We'll keep you updated on the project. Any ideas are welcome.

ON THE WEBSITE:

Like mp3s? Even know what they are? Would you like to make more money? Sure, we all would. How about TV/VCR repair, gun repair... oh wait. Mp3s. To test the concept of distributing the show via mp3, we have encoded the ENTIRE Anniversary 4 Show from late April into mp3s. You are free to download the big files and enjoy. Visit [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/4ashow ].

THE STRANGEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE:

Fish and I have never gotten along very well. Not ever since that day mom stuffed me in a burlap bag and dumped me in the drink. I realize it's not the fish's fault, but I have to displace the anger somehow! Thank heaven someone had the forethought to create the Torture a Fish webpage. [ http://www.amused.com/fish.html ].

Have you ever taken a picture of the very tip of your shoe on the floor for the sole purpose of getting a roll of film started? Now you have a virtual refrigerator to hang them on. Visit Crap pictures. Don't worry. It's not pictures of crap. [ http://www.cometemultimedia.com/crap ]

Speaking of pictures, you're a monkey. Prove it at [ http://sites.netscape.net/zumaltsp/camera1.html ]
