THE LATEST IN LEE & WOLFE NEWS:

((This issue: multi-station Lee & Wolfe, bowling, murder, and grape fireworks.))

If you're new to the Fun-O-Rama, welcome! Remember, you can sorta kinda catch up with Lee & Wolfe news by reading back issues on the website at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/fanzine.htm ].

"We Are Lee & Wolfe: Resistance Is Futile"

Lee & Wolfe: College Radio is now officially a syndicated show! Woo-hoo!! Our first affiliate, who has graciously been the guinea pig for this project over the past weeks is WXII at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky ("Today's Best Music, The X"). Check them out at [ http://www.wxii.eku.edu ].

The syndicated version of our show is a bit different than the live one. Distributed primarily via mp3 over the net (and CD if necessary), it features us (duh), music, comedy, news, and live band performances. It's two hours long, and as we expand our number of affiliates, it will heavily feature the creative contributions from DJs at those affiliates. We hope it will be a show to celebrate the best in college radio. As we said in the last Fun-O-Rama, the show will provide a national, or even international, outlet for college DJs who are going above and beyond the call of duty to make college radio not suck like the rest of it. And imagine the incentive for bands to play live. :-) THEREFORE: if you are a college DJ who is doing anything at all of interest on the radio (comedy, news, interviews, dramas, spontaneous group spankings, etc.) send a tape to us! If you work at a college station, check out [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/synd ] for more information.

I should take this moment for the proverbial "shoutout" to Beth Herald and Corey Alexander, "X" listeners in Richmond who e-mailed us recently. Beth listens to us "on the X every weekend" and wonders when we are coming to Eastern, and Corey says we're "funny as shit." So it's all poop jokes tomorrow on the show.

"Video Loved the Radio Star"

Clint Till is a Telecommunications and Film major here at the University of Alabama, and he's taking a class which requires a documentary on someone that you follow around for a week or so, and produce a feature on. Figuring correctly that we are media whores and would make the project easy, he chose us as his subject(s). Clint and his crew (Hege, Brian, and that other guy whose name we keep forgetting; remembering Hege was easy) followed us home (so we kept them... ba-doomp-boomp) and taped our every move as we prepared the show, wasted time, bowled, performed the show, ate, slept, drank, and made sweet love. Well, maybe not some of that. We thank them for their interest, and as soon as his segment is done and a copy delivered, we shall make it available via Real Video on the refurbished video section of the website at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/video/ ].

"Speaking of Bowling"

Engineer Nick is a bee-yatch. Despite the fact that we all (the show staff and other DJs) pretty well suck at bowling, and despite the fact that I clobbered everyone 2 weeks ago with a 177 score, he has the audacity to smear a 204 in our faces last Sunday, ripping off 7 strikes in one game with his Dick Ball. Do what? Oh... his Dick Ball? Yeah, it's a ball that has the name "Dick" on it. What did you think I meant? He's not THAT talented.

ON THE SHOW:

"Band-wise"

Way way way way way WAAAAY back in the fall of 1995, Wolfe and I had our first live band performance in the form of rock band Mindseye. Fantastic group, and we missed them after they moved to Atlanta to get all famous and stuff. But we e-mailed them recently and convinced them to be on this Friday, October 22, 1999! Their latest CD is fantastic, and you can learn more about these people-who-are-likely-from-another-planet by going to [ http://www.mindseyenetwork.com ], and by listening live tomorrow in the 7 o'clock hour Central time at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/audio/liveshow.htm ]. When you go to their site, I recommend the non-flash page, and of course registering to win poo-poo.

"Other-wise"

Don't forget next week is homecoming at the University of Alabama, and it's time for the 4th Annual LAWNR90.7AH! That's the "Lee and Wolfe New Rock 90.7 Alternative Homecoming. There will be three live bands plus the drumline of the Million Dollar Band performing on the front steps of Reese Phifer Hall, facing the quad and it's festivities, and throngs of people, all live on Lee & Wolfe. Ironically, one of the activities the university has decided to put on the quad this year is a live, free, outdoor concert. Hmmm... good idea. The show starts normally at 5pm, and runs 'til about 9:30pm, with the music happening before the pep rally from 6:15 to 7pm, and after it at 8pm. We're trying to NOT interfere and have the cops show up this year. We'll send out an abbreviate Fun-O-Rama next week with details on the bands, etc. Big BIG thanks to David Jones of Tuscaloosa for his help with the sound and lights, and generally being the reason this thing will look and sound fantastic!

ON THE WEBSITE:

Wanna hear the syndicated version of the show? Some of them are on the site in Real Audio at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/audio/theshow.htm ]. And as I mentioned before, the video page has had a refurb, so check it out too. There's a video of girls kissing. Don't miss it.

THE STRANGEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE:

Paranoid? Someone stalking you? You could be killed at any moment. Famous folks like us have to worry about stuff like that. Find out your risk of being murdered at [ http://www.telalink.net/~police/risk/murder.html ].

This site reviews movies in ten words or less. Wow. [ http://www.electroverse.com/ev/dt/pre_ten_word_reviews.html ]

Fun with Grapes. "Using only cheap, readily-available equipment, you can create a spectacular light show in the comfort of your very own kitchen." I haven't tried it yet. [ http://www.sci.tamucc.edu/~pmichaud/grape ]
