THE LATEST IN LEE & WOLFE NEWS:

((This issue: Sweet Away-From-Home Chicago, mp3s, newsgirl job, and gastrovision.))

If you're new to the Fun-O-Rama, welcome! Remember, you can almost catch up with Lee & Wolfe news by reading back issues on the website at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/fanzine.htm ].

"Windy Y2K"

So we were thinking that we could spend New Year's for the new Millennium in Tuscaloosa, seeing who would hold a bottle rocket in their hand longest after lighting it.... OR, we could do something cool. Steve and Johnnie, overnight show hosts on AM 720 WGN in Chicago seem to like us, and asked Largest Fan Patrick to invite us to the station for New Year's celebrations. So Lee, Intern Heather, Intern Rachael, Engineer Nick, and Largest Fan Patrick begin the trek to Chicago in a rental van in the morning. Wolfe joins us via propeller-driven aircraft on the evening of the 31st. If we get lucky, and Y2K news is light, you might be able to hear a little bit of Lee & Wolfe on Steve and Johnnie's New Year's special after some ungodly hour like 3 or 4 am. But basically it's gonna be a kick ass way to bring in 2000. Fireworks, large pizzas, and ice skating is on the schedule. And just to be as geeky as possible, Engineer Nick will be using his new 300W DC to AC inverter to allow him to hook up a computer network in the van. That's right, a LAN Van. We'll be watching DVD's as we go zipping across the open plains of Indiana. Dorks of the world, UNITE! WGN can be heard in most of the country on 720 AM, and on the internet at [ http://wgnradio.com ].

And a Happy 2000 to all of you...

"Mp3's 'til You Puke"

We have mp3s. You like mp3s? Cuz we got 'em. Lots of 'em. Each week, the syndicated version of our show is available to affiliates via the mp3 format on our website at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/synd/schedule/schedule.htm ] and there's no reason you can't get them too if you wish. Be forewarned, they are large files, with the non-commercial versions being in stereo and twice the size of the mono commercial ones. Cable modem folks can make us jealous by telling us how quickly they can download them. Right now, the Best of Fall '99 show is available.

That's not enough mp3s? OK. Try [ http://www.mp3.com/law ] for some more comedy we have made available to the mp3.com community. Still not enough? We've added buttloads of comedy to our comedy page at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/comedy/audclips.htm ]. LOTS of new comedy was added recently.

"When We Said Our Newsgirl Was Good, We Weren't Kidding"

We've always said that the Lee & Wolfe show is the stepping stone to stardom, and for almost every newsgirl, it has been. One former is a TV news anchor, another is becoming a teacher, and yet another does morning radio news in Birmingham. Now it's beginning to happen again. Newsgirl Tasha [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/people/tasha ] will soon begin producing the morning show at WQZZ, 104.3 Tuscaloosa AL / Tupelo MS. Big congrats to her, and look for her next big event to be a record deal, then a Grammy. She assures us she'll still hang out and do news with us losers on Fridays for our little show thing.

ON THE (next) SHOW:

"Band-wise"

On a recent show, we played "20 second chance" with some music from various bands that contacted us. Most of the time, the 20 seconds is enough, as some callers always remind us. But Wonderlust stood out. So they are on the schedule to begin the next millennium of Lee & Wolfe on January 7, 2000 at 7pm CST. They're a rock band from Atlanta, and they're gonna be fun. Listen LIVE at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/audio/theshow.htm ].

ON THE WEBSITE:

The method for getting to our live feed in Real Audio and in a Java application is slightly different. Both live feeds and the archived shows are now on one convenient page at [ http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/audio/theshow.htm ]. And don't forget to check out all the added comedy at [ ].

THE STRANGEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE:

Ah the age old conundrum: Cameron Diaz or Sea Monkeys.... Cameron or Monkeys, Cameron or Monkeys.... Aghhh, so tough to decide! For help, go to [ http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Heights/7374/home.html ].

The modern media is corrupting our children. We've been doing this for almost five years now, so we should know. But I've never seen a better example of good, God-fearin' people realizing this than this link here: [ http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news0899/jar.html ]

Man, I love those teletubbies. Enough to enjoy this page:[ http://www.newgrounds.com/tubby ] You'll need the Shockwave plug-in, but I think it's worth it to spend a little cyber-fun time with the gastrovision quartet.
